Old books in India are the outcome of centuries of experience and insight. This age old wisdom in the form of old Indian books represents the brilliance, originality and authenticity of the past. In India, old books on the sciences, arts, economics, trade, commerce and other disciplines of knowledge provide the scaffolding for present day knowledge and expertise. These old books stand as a reference point for future study and research. Many renowned authors of all times attribute the inspiration for their famed works to old Indian books. Sometimes, students refer to these old books in order to sharpen the fundamentals of their knowledge base. The reason is simple - old books in India have fantastic original compilation of subject material elaborated by diagrams, flow charts and pictures.

The current trend is that of professionalism and competition. In fact, competition has become so intense that it begins right from the kindergarten. After passing senior secondary school, students are expected to get admission in esteemed professional colleges for a bright career in the coming years. Old books in India are the fountainhead of all fields of thought. They provide thorough and in-depth subject material for study in terms of content and analysis. Examiners seek answers written from analytical point of view rather than a mere presentation of facts mugged up from books. Old books in India do provide comprehensive body of facts and information. But at the same time, they do so through analysis, evaluation and appraisal format. Such a reference material provided by old Indian books helps students score high marks on any subject under the sun. In India, old books have greatly helped students in cracking various competitive examinations for college entrance or for getting a good job.

Personally speaking, when I was a student of class XII, we had to study trigonometry in our mathematics syllabus. I could not comprehend the same from our prescribed course books. A walk through the lanes of Darya Ganj weekly market got me an old Indian book on trigonometry. This old and worn out book had changed several hands before landing at my study table. This was clear from its binding and date of publication and also the long chain of names of its owners down the years. Through that old book, trigonometry became a piece of cake for me. Never before had I found this subject to be so easy. I solved problems in no time, thanks to old books available in India.

Old Indian books are referred to by students and professionals alike. In spite of the rising tide of new publications, old books are a valuable and indispensable reference material for clearing any competitive examination. Old books attract and retain the interest of the learner both through their content as well as thematic framework. At present, the online availability of these old books has elevated their status worldwide.
