india–italy: graphic novel exchange deal
dear friends, I’m writing from milan in italy and have got a small problem which somebody in india could help to solve – but first thinh you’ve got to read this message very carefully.
let me start with some backgroung information:i’m a lover of graphic novels – which some of you might want to call comics – except that there’re no flying superheroes in pantyhoses fighting to save humanity. one could describe them as comics for adults who also love to read real books. I got a copy of an indian graphic novel entitled ‘corridor’ by sarnath banerjee from amazon u.k. and liked it. i know he’s got a second graphic novel out – ‘the barn owl's wondrous capers’ – which I’ll order from amazon u.k. they’re published by ‘penguin’ which is an international company – so worldwide distribution is no big problem for his books. incidentally sarnath banerjee also publishes graphic novels with his small independent company ‘phantomville’ (http://www.phantomville.net) – but these are not distributed outside India. i'd like a copy of 'the believers' by abdul sultan - I tried an Indian internet bookshops but they asked 10 british pounds to post it to milan, italy. that’s a lot for a book which costs 150 rupees! my idea is: somebody buys a copy for me in India and forwards it through the indian postal service. there’s a tariffs calculator on their internet site (http://www.indiapost.gov.in/ForeignTariff.html) where I calculated that an item weighing 400 grams can be sent to italy as a ‘sample and small packet’ for just 161 rupees (2.8 euros). below is the calculation i made on their webpages

2) i could send you a graphic novel, comics, magazine or book you might want from italy – worth 10 euros (573 rupees). unfortunately most of them are in italian but you’ve got a few adventure comics in english
